LPG Gas in Kochi: New Connection, Booking Numbers, Transfer, Subsidy
New LPG connection in Kochi: documents, the Rs 2,200 HP deposit, WhatsApp and IVRS booking numbers for Indane, HP and Bharatgas, and transfers.
A new LPG connection in Kochi comes from one of three oil companies, Indane (IndianOil), Bharatgas (BPCL) or HP Gas (HPCL), through a local distributor. You need one proof of identity, one proof of address and a security deposit; HPCL lists Rs 2,200 for a 14.2 kg cylinder and Rs 250 for the regulator as of November 2026. A refill cost Rs 949 in Kochi on 1 October 2026, and from that date subsidised refills need a one-time Aadhaar biometric check.

How do you get a new LPG connection?
Pick a company, then a distributor that serves your address. With Indane you can apply at the distributor, in the IndianOil ONE app or on cx.indianoil.in, then hand over documents at the distributor. IndianOil's citizen charter promises release within seven working days once address and identity proof, an undertaking and the deposit are in. Bharatgas and HP Gas take applications on their own sites and at distributors.
HPCL's list of accepted identity proofs includes PAN, voter ID, Aadhaar, driving licence, a central or state government ID card and a bank passbook with photo; a passport or ration card counts as proof of address. If you do not have a ration card yet, our ration card guide explains the process; it is not essential for a connection, but it is useful address proof.
Which company? In practice, the one whose distributor is closest and has the best reputation in your area matters far more than the brand on the cylinder. Ask neighbours how quickly refills arrive before you sign up.
Can we get a gas connection on a rent agreement?
Usually yes. The standard KYC form used by the oil companies lists a lease agreement as accepted proof of address. HPCL's own list is stricter and names a registered leave and licence document, so if your agreement is unregistered, ask the distributor before you go, and carry a second address proof such as a bank statement or Aadhaar with the new address.
How to book LPG gas in Kerala?
Kerala uses the same national channels as everywhere else. Register your mobile number with your distributor first; the Indane and HP channels work only from your registered number.
| Company | Missed call / IVRS | App | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Indane | 75888 88824 | IVRS 77189 55555; missed call 84549 55555 (announced for new connections) | IndianOil ONE |
| HP Gas | 92222 01122 | Missed call 94936 02222; IVRS 88888 23456 | HP Pay |
| Bharatgas | 1800224344 (Urja bot) | IVRS 77150 12345 or 77180 12345 | HelloBPCL |
Indane also lets you book a single refill from a different Indane distributor serving your address, which IndianOil calls refill booking portability. It is worth using if your usual agency is slow.
Can I book HP gas from WhatsApp?
Yes. Send "Hi" to 92222 01122 from your registered mobile and follow the menu; HPCL's FAQ also mentions sending "Book". Whichever company you use, be wary of anyone asking for codes: HPCL says it never emails or calls customers asking for an OTP, PIN or password. Indane sends a delivery authentication code by SMS to your registered mobile, which you share with the delivery person only when the cylinder is in front of you.
What happens when you move house?
- Same distributor area: only your address is updated.
- Another distributor in the same city: with Indane, you get a Transfer Termination Voucher and keep your cylinder and regulator, even if you switch to another company's distributor. HP Gas issues an e-CTA authorisation code, valid for three months, for in-city transfers.
- Another city: you return the cylinder and regulator and receive a Termination Voucher, which you use to get the deposit refunded or to reconnect elsewhere.
Keep your consumer card (the gas book). The new distributor needs it, and losing it turns a simple transfer into an afternoon at the agency.
Subsidy, Aadhaar and safety
Under the PAHAL scheme, running since January 2015, every domestic cylinder is sold at one uniform price and any subsidy due is paid straight into the consumer's bank account. From 1 October 2026, booking a subsidised refill needs a one-time biometric Aadhaar authentication. It is free and can be done by the delivery person, at the distributor or in the company app; if you have already done it, you do not need to repeat it. If your Aadhaar details need fixing first, see our Aadhaar update guide.
For a gas leak, call 1906, the oil companies' round-the-clock emergency number. Save it next to the other numbers in our Kochi emergency numbers guide.
