LuLu Mall in Edappally spans roughly 2 million square feet with more than 300 outlets, while Centre Square on MG Road is a fraction of the size at 630,000 square feet with 89 stores, and the two serve genuinely different trips rather than competing head to head. Here is which one actually fits what you are going for.

How much bigger is LuLu Mall than Centre Square?

Both opened within months of each other in 2013, and both were genuinely significant for Kochi retail at the time, but they were never built to the same brief. LuLu was built to be a destination in itself, big enough that you plan an afternoon or evening around it. Centre Square was built to be the one proper mall inside the city centre, a stop on an already-busy MG Road errand run rather than a trip of its own.

Which mall is easier to reach by metro?

Centre Square, and it is not close. The Maharajas College metro station sits about 550 metres from Centre Square, an easy walk. LuLu Mall's connection is more elaborate but still genuinely convenient: Edappally Metro Station links directly to the mall by a covered skywalk, so you never touch the road-level traffic at one of Kochi's busiest junctions. If you are staying in or visiting that end of town, our neighbourhood guide to Edappally covers what else is nearby LuLu Mall. Either way you are covered without a car; Centre Square just asks less walking of you on arrival.

Which one has the better cinema?

Centre Square, on screen count as well as format. Its Cinepolis runs 11 screens with roughly 2,100 seats and includes an IMAX screen, the format worth paying up for on a genuine big-screen release. LuLu's multiplex, by contrast, runs 9 screens, fewer than the smaller mall despite LuLu's overall size advantage. Neither mall is walkable to the other, so this is not a same-trip decision either way, pick your side of town first and the cinema question mostly answers itself.

Which mall is easier to park at?

LuLu, by capacity, though not necessarily by convenience. LuLu Mall's parking holds around 3,000 cars, against roughly 500 to 600 in Centre Square's three-level basement under its compact seven-floor building on a fixed 2.5-acre plot, so Centre Square's lot genuinely does fill up on a busy weekend evening, with MG Road traffic adding to the squeeze. LuLu rarely runs out of space in the same way, the tradeoff there is a longer walk from a far corner of the lot to the entrance you actually want.

So which mall should you actually pick?

Pick LuLu if you want the full outing: food court, a wider spread of stores, and enough space to actually spend a few hours without repeating yourself. Pick Centre Square if you are already on or near MG Road, want an IMAX show, or just need to get in and out without a long walk from the metro. Kochi genuinely does not need you to pick one as a loyalty, most regulars end up using both depending on which end of the city they are already in that day. Smaller retailers based near either mall can list themselves on our Business Directory.
